10:04p | [stuff] 1) i now have a roll top desk! omg yay! except that it's basically in the middle of my living room and i need to figure out how to rearrange everything. i suppose that is what the long weekend is for. i am stoked (because i had been waiting for it before i did a bunch of stuff) and also intimidated (because you know, i am essentially lazy). 2) i also have a yarn scale & an obsession with one skein triangular scarves. they fit the gap on my coat just perfectly. (did i tell you about my coat? i love it. it is black and has lots of buttons. it is actually almost too cold for me to wear it now, but i refuse to give it up. a friend told me it was "very master & commander". i said that was 90% of why i bought it. 3) LONG WEEKEND. i might go down to the tree lighting on friday. i heard a rumor there would be barbershop. barbershop! 4) i have a lot of families not sponsored yet. this makes me pretty nervous, though i think in the past this was typical at this point in the process. just last year everyone was feeling extra-generous. 5) if anyone sees anything about knitting in the fantastic mr fox, please to be letting me know. i wish it had gotten a hand-made marketing blitz like coraline did. it certainly deserves it. 6) i probably should pick a yuletide story and start writing it. i have both sources, more or less, and a decision-making disorder. 7) ...that is all. 10:13a | [omg] so, i am friends with a few of my cousins on facebook (which i quite enjoy, actually) and one of them messaged me yesterday about how he should charge my mom for tech support, because she's always making him fix their computers. *then* he asks if she sends me a bunch of right-wing propaganda, because he's getting it from both of my parents *and* his mom (one of my mom's sisters). i haven't been as much, since i started challenging the content of the messages. this is his response: "My mom has started physically mailing me printouts of it, and having stacks of them for me to read whenever I go visit her." OMGWTF. GUYS, THERE IS SOMEONE CRAZIER THAN MY MOTHER. thank god my cousins & i have our two excellent aunts, who let us know that we are not the crazy ones. Current Mood: amazed |

10:50a | [GAH] you'd think that at least in the goddamned FEMINIST GROUP on ravelry, people would act like they got some goddamned sense. you'd be wrong. highlights this week include "queer? not queer? who cares. i don't like labels, because they're too hard to remember. i think of everyone as a human being" and "the newsweek cover of sarah palin isn't sexist because she deserves it". and here's the thing! i am actually not very smart and not at all educated here, and yet i am pretty sure that deciding that elements of a person's identity can be erased because you find them confusing? inappropriate! also, i am pretty sure that it's *still* sexism when it happens to people we don't like! 2:23p | [things] 1) is it just me, or did no one leak the dave rawlings record that's coming out tomorrow? i mean, i was going to buy it obviously, whenever i'm next at sonic boom, but i was astonished to not stumble across it online. 2) i just placed a ridiculous order at amazon, which included a kitchen scale (for yarn) and a lazy susan (for a swift). 3) i am obsessing over tattoos. this is not really new. 4) my yuletide assignment is awesome, and i am pretty tempted to write two of the requests. feel free to start laughing now, or just wait until mid-december when i am berating whichever story i decided to go with. 5) the holiday project at work is up and running again, so i am swamped and shall continue to be so. yay? ...i feel like there should be more than that, but i have no idea. i will now open the floor to questions :) Current Mood:  sleepy |
